I never thought that I would say that so cheerfully, but I am! I have never voted Republican, and I hope never to. Similarly, there are lots of Republicans who thought they'd never vote blue.
But there is a growing agreement that Trump has made a zombie out of the GOP. Reportedly many Republicans are abandoning the MAGA leadership, and are going to vote for Harris and Walz this November. They declare that the Harris-Walz ticket stands for what they consider traditional family values; what the GOP would have stood for in years gone by.
Christians, who had been following Trump for the last few years, are heading towards the Democrat tent. Many recent immigrants, and descendants of immigrants, are deeply insulted at the way they have been portrayed by the Trump camp, and say: enough is enough. Mitt Romney never liked Trump. Lots of Republican former Congressmen and women are tired of Trump. Nikki Haley has been grinding away at the negative image of people of Indian descent that Trump presents, and I won't be surprised if she decides she can't take it anymore. Liz Cheney. The Bush family.
The interesting thing is that they don't describe themselves as former Republicans! No, they're Republicans still. They just have to wait it out until Trump is gone.
This is what I have always said: Trump has hijacked the GOP.
