Training a Cat

This is going to be awkward, because readers of our blog don't comment on it very often.  The last comment was a year ago, and at this rate, I'm going to forget how to read and respond to comments!

Anyhow, my problem is that, when I visit my friend in town, my favorite cat comes over to visit, she climbs on my lap, and then she gets higher up, and sticks her claws in my clothing in the process of get up to my face!  If I'm not dressed with many layers, this means that her claws actually pierce my skin, very painfully.

I immediately yell out: "Ouch, ouch, ouch, that hurts!  Get down!"

Sometimes she gets off my chest, and just stays to chat.  That's perfect.  Other times, she gets right off the chair, and looks at me a little resentfully.

So, what to do?  I must come up with some kind of reaction to her claws, so that she knows that I find it painful when she had her claws out.
